furQ At Hope & Anchor

furQ Presents: The LGBTEA Time @ Hope and Anchor - A Furked Up Good Time

One lesson furQ learned bright and early is that if Queers want a space to be truly visible, they gotta build um theyself. The moment a Queer speaks up and advocates for themselves the money gets iffy. Do you want rights or funding? You think Pride is any different?

We set out not to burn Pride down but to build it up. To create more spaces for outcasts and rebels like us. Where we can be abjectly ourselves. A Queer cabaret run by local underground radicals on Ulverston Pride evening.

Hosted by a loudmouth American skank and a psychopath, the LGBTEA Time was a veritable protest march upon the stage featuring: an accordion player, a flutist, the world’s oldest drag king, fire fan dancing, a cabbage murder and previous acts from Furness and Ulverston Pride. Krystal Kweer even dropped in unexpectedly.

We hosted it at the Hope and Anchor, cuz where in the hell else would we?? The Hope has been home base for Queers and creatives for over a decade. If you happen by there on a Thursday evening you will be in the presence of more than a few members of the Freedom-Fighting Ulverston Radical Queers.

If you missed it, you missed it. It was truly a night to remember. Something for us by us, highlighting our amazingly quirky community. It won’t be your last chance however. We aren’t done by a longshot. So cash us at a furQ event sometime soon. It’s a furked up good time.

Next up, furQ presents: A Radical Film Screening! 6 September @ Laurel and Hardy Museum in Ulverston. Hit up our FB and Insta for more details!
